Rihanna

Born Robyn Rihanna Fenty on February 20, 1988, in Saint Michael, Barbados, her star quality already showed at a young age. Rihanna won several beauty and talent contests. Because she lived on the fairly remote island of Barbados in the West Indies, she never foresaw the sort of stardom that would later befall her.

Rihanna broke into the recording industry in 2005 with the hit single «Pon de Replay». A year later she earned her first number-one single «SOS». But it was her third album, Good Girl Gone Bad, that made Rihanna an international pop star with a regular presence at the top of the charts. The album has yielded seven singles, including «Umbrella», «Don’t Stop the Music», and «Take a Bow». Rihanna is currently signed to the Def Jam Recordings label. She has attained five Billboard Hot 100 #1s this far and is the first Barbadian Artist to win a Grammy Award.
